Eric McLoughlin's Art
Welcome to my online art gallery!
This is the place where you can purchase prints of my art direct. I only sell prints of my own paintings, and each
comes with my signature and print number written on the back. Images are produced using a wide-format professional
quality printer, and printed on to 330x483mm heavy-weight satin-matt finish paper. Prints are delivered unframed so
as to minimise postage fees, and it also gives you the option of choosing how much you want to spend on framing.
The total cost for each print is £35 including recorded delivery, and I will deliver to anywhere in the world.
Payments can be made by using either a PayPal account or by card.
| Bluebells in Winch Hill Wood |
|
A painting of Winch Hill Wood (near Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire). I painted this is 2003, working from a photo taken as the
sun was setting. I love how the low sun provides dramatic shading and nicely picks out the bluebells. This area is a
remnant of ancient oak and hornbeam woodland.

| The Old Wood |
|
A painting of a scene in Bricket Wood Common, near Old School Lane (Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire). I was
drawn to the sculptural (and slightly sinister!) forms of the old trees here. I painted this in 2004.

| Roof Tops |
|
Slate roofs in a village in the Val d'Aosta, in the Italian Alps. Painted in 2001. I was there on a field trip as part of my
Environmental Studies course. I remember having a particularly enjoyable afternoon with my colleagues sitting on a terrace
in the sunshine, working through a crate of Italian beer, a massive block of Gorgonzola and some rolls.

| A clearing in Bricket Wood Common |
|
I painted this in 2006, working from a photo of a spot on Old School Lane in Bricket Wood. In this painting
I used an impressionist style. I wanted to convey the colour and atmosphere of the scene, without getting too bogged down in
the detail.

| Ginger Cat |
 |
A ginger cat. The cat is copied from a photo but the colouration is my invention. I like the way
that this isn't too cute; that steady gaze and dark-tipped tail suggest a darker nature. Painted in 2005.

| Snapdragon |
|
I've always admired celtic and norse knotwork, and I thought it
would be fun to make an image based on two 'snapdragon' flowers emerging from a knotwork of roots. This was painted in
2001.

| Silver Birches |
|
This is a scene set in Bricket Wood Common, looking across a large clearing. I had Monet's
'Poplars on the Epte' in mind when I saw those trees. I spent hours running round those woods when I was a boy.
I can
tell you that Roy Stride of 'Scouting for Girls' fame owns a copy of this one!

| A Garden in the Cotswolds |
 |
A painting of a garden in the grounds of Nether Swell Manor in Stow-on-the-Wold, in the Cotswolds. Produced from a
photograph taken in 1992. I spent a year there working as a teaching assistant. A really beautiful part of England.

| The Wolf and the Moon |
 |
A lone wolf bathed in the cold glow of the moon. The moon is depicted much larger than reality
so as to lend a fantastical and symbolic feeling to the composition. Painted in 2005.

| Wild Roses |
 |
This was painted from a photograph I took while working in the Wardown Hills in Bedfordshire. I love how
everything in this picture is exploding with life. The long grasses in the foreground remind me of waves crashing
against a shore. Painted in 2003.

| Raven and Serpent |
 |
Painted in 2002. This painting is an attempt to translate my style of doodleing into something more structured.
A nordic/germanic theme to this one. The snake and the raven both feature in Viking mythology.

| Deity |
 |
This painting is heavily influenced my Mucha and Art Nouveau. The character in the centre isn't intended to
be any particular entity. I have suggestions, but I think it is best left open to the viewer's interpretation.

A painting of my friend Diana, working from a photo taken in a London pub a long time ago.

| Stars |
 |
This is one of my few abstract paintings. It references both the stars and primitive symbols.
Painted in 2005.
